- BPO sector sees maximum growth in July'14 over July'13
- Amongst the metros, Pune saw the maximum growth in July'14 over July'13
The Naukri Job Speak Index for the month of July 2014 was at 1649 indicating a 20% growth in hiring when compared to July 2013. Monthly comparison also shows a growth of 5% in hiring activity when compared to June&rsquo14. Industry wise hiring sentiment was exuberant with sectors like BPO and IT seeing an increase of 32% and 31% respectively in July&rsquo14 as compared to July&rsquo13. Among the top metros Pune has seen the maximum growth with the index moving up by 31% in the same period.
Hitesh Oberoi, Managing Director and CEO Info Edge (India) Ltd said "Hiring activity is slowly bouncing back. We expect the hiring landscape to improve in the coming six months especially in sectors like IT and Services which continue to create most of the jobs in the country".
Industry Sector Analysis:
An in depth analysis reveals that apart from the IT and BPO sector, Banking and Telecom have seen growth with the index moving up by 25% and 24% in July'14 over July'13. Auto and Construction sector have also experienced positive trajectory with the index going up by 16% and 9% in the same period.
Other sectors like Oil & Gas and Insurance are facing headwinds with the index moving down by 8% and 4% respectively in the July'14 over July 13.
Functional Area Analysis:
The demand for professionals working in IT and BPO saw maximum growth with the Naukri Job Speak Index moving up by 31% and 33% respectively in July&rsquo14 over July&rsquo13. Professionals employed in HR and Accounts & Finance have also seen an increase of 25% and 21% in the same period. Professionals seeking employment in Marketing & Advertising have seen a spike of 24% in July&rsquo14 over July'13.
Professionals working in Banking and Insurance have seen an increase of 11% while those employed in Supply Chain have seen an increase of 16% in July'14 over July'13.
City Wise Analysis:
Amongst cities, Pune saw 31% growth in hiring in July'14 over July'13. Hyderabad and Chennai has seen a growth of 27% each in the same period while Delhi NCR and Bangalore has seen a growth of 25% each in July'14 over July'13.
Mumbai and Kolkata have seen a growth of 17% and 5% respectively in July'14 over July'13.
